EVENTS

The association of Moroccan Americans in Northern Texas & its president Mr. Ahmed Yanouri, organized a series of events;  "Spotlight on Morocco"...

Guests included Mr. Aziz Mekouar, the Moroccan ambassador to the US, Mr. Faouzi Chaabi, Mayor and parliament representative of Rabat/Souissi, Miss Angela Shim, the acting ambassador of Brunei, and several MAC board members, and many local dignitaries.

The  business luncheons were attended by over 100 hundred people including representatives from companies such as Lockheed Martin, American Airlines, ALSHAL International, GTI Diagnostics, GeoPetra, Dienst International .

It was an opportunity for Americans to learn about the economic reforms undertaken in recent years by Morocco and especially investment opportunities in what the Moroccan diplomat described as "best place to invest" throughout Africa.

Under the "mobile consulate" program that was spearheaded by Former Consul Hassan Khantash, The staff of the consulates of both New York & Washington provided its services to members of the Moroccan American community in Texas.

The consular team, under newly appointed General consul Mr. Mohamed Karmoune, were able to process paperwork for all attendees. the "mobile consulate" service is greatly appreciated by the community for it saves them the inconvenience and the expense of travel and lodging in NYC to update their paperwork. Several people raised the need to alleviate the work load on the New York consulate by adding new offices and/or sharing the load with the Washington Consulate.

The association of Moroccan Americans in Northern Texas held its annual elections and a new executive  team headed by Mr. Chaib Salih was elected. It will replace  the outgoing president Mr. Ahmed Yanouri who wished them well.

The highlights of the event was the Gala Dinner at the Brookheaven Country Club. Moroccan American Artist Mr. Amir Ali and the Saltanah Stars Group were at their best, performing to an audience that enjoyed their music.
