Morocco's King Mohammed, in a Stern Speech, Warns Country's Territorial Integrity Foes
NEWS

Morocco's King Mohammed, in a speech last Friday, called for action against traitors who threatened the country's territorial integrity, a clear warning to Western Sahara independence campaigners and their backer in Algeria. Morocco has offered limited autonomy for the territory while western Sahara separatist group, Polisario, backed by Algeria, is asking for a referendum with independence as an option.

" it is time to stop outlaws taking advantage of its civic freedoms to agitate from within" King Mohammed said.

"Would any democratic country accept the use of democracy and human rights as a pretext ... for a gang of outlaws to plot, in intelligence with its enemies, against its unity and higher interests?" he said.

"The time of double-games and evasion is over...It is time for clarity and for assuming your duty. You are either a patriot or a traitor. There is no half-way house between patriotism and treason." he said.

"Moroccan authorities must be vigilant to head off any challenge to national sovereignty and act firmly to preserve security, stability and public order" he said.

"As for the adversaries of our territorial integrity ... they know more than anyone that the Sahara is a crucial cause of the Moroccan people, united around their throne," the king said.

Spain also is a problem
I think Spain has something to do with it as well. The king talked about Sahara. Why doesnt he speak about Ceuta and Melilla? or is it all a question of intrests.Anyway the moroccan there dnt wanna be a part of morocco, are they mad?! In morocco there is democracy but only for rich people.Who cares? Everyone knows that moroccan people have bad reputation in europe generally; We should blame the system the system. When are we going to have a value? We need a social system or poors dont need it.Some people in Morocco live only from Bread and Tea while the king is posing with yachts;Im sure the king knows that. This is the truth.Did you know that his daily palace budget is about 960 thousand euro. It's a shame!!!!!!

and you do? And no it's like the bushist mantra, hes not asking you to espouse some foreign idea or concept; this dualism is correct you either believe the sahara to be moroccan or you don't, and if it's the latter then you're clearly a traitor!

why western sahara`?
no doubt the king is good at PR, he speaks about patriotism, when one can ask himself what is there to be patriotic about. but with a public that is uneducated, these kind of cheep speeches works very well. no doubt the western Sahara is a conflict that can be used to take away the attention of more important issues like human rights, poverty etc. the king in morocco holds absolute power and decides what issues are important and what issues aren't. it's a lot easier for the king to speak about the western Sahara than poverty

Good speach
This is a good speach we must not show a grey area or stand.
It has to be white or black, this has been a very long and difficult problem, it will not be solved by sitting back and letting the enemy get any stronger.

I see the king is not in good health, i hope he will get better soon.

Allah, al Watan, al Malik.

Good PR but corrupt as the devil
He must speak out against his corrupt regime. He is very good in PR but Morocco is one of the most corrupt countries.
Evidence? I traveld many years tot Morocco and the first question that ask me: where are you from and then tell me that I drove 50 while I have to drive 30 (no evidence what so ever). They take your driving license and ask you to come next day to the police station, while you are just passing and will never return to the same place.....you have no choice then to pay them 100 DH.
Well !! The king and his corrupt regime will never see me again.

Can someone forward this e-mail to him :-))))??

mouradi, i don't think the king is the 7th richest man in the world but according to Forbes he's the 7th richest monarch in the world. as long as the people of morocco are poor and doesn't have anything on their mind than how to get the next meal, the society will not change. the people of morocco will always live in a society where very few own most of the country and the most live in poverty and barely can survive.
the elite are trying to convince the public they are changing morocco to a Democratic country with respect for human rights. nothing really hasn't changed that much, of course now morocco is a pretty open country, you can find bars and discos every where you go, trance/techno festivals are being held in fez, tangier, Marrakesh, even black metal concerts are seen in morocco. these events are something relatively new to morocco but is this real freedom, is this really what the Moroccan people were hoping for, i doubt it.

I do not see anything wrong with M6 stirring " The pot" to see what would surface at the top.The STATUS QUO can not last forever between these 2 Sister Nations. Something has to give, oF COURSE not WAR. We all know war will not happen. Unfortunatelly BOUTEF is not free to make his OWN decisions as he has his STRONG GENERALS to answer to.M6 on his own would have not made such strong statements, unless he had tacit support from other PARTIES from outside Morocco who are interested to resolve the situation expediously ( US, France, Spain and the likes).
We, the folks that sit in the safety of our own homes, behind our computer screens ( Algerian, Moroccan and third Parties) should back off and think. Let us contribute positively with ideas that would ( may be; just may be anda)to assist to find a solution to the problems. My concern is not what M6, Boutef or others think.I am concerned about the hardships the people in Tindouf are experiencing. Also, how about Mouloudji of Setif and Abdelkader of Souk Sebt? Do they eat to their hunger satisfaction? NON, HELL NO? They are lucky if they have a piece of bread for dinner along Saliva as a means to swallow it. Boutef and M6 don't have to worry about going hungry, cold or dirty. It is the populace of both Nations that are suffering. I recall, 1999, while in Alger at the Ourrassi Hotel, and while having my hair cut, the Lady Barber told me: "her and her family can not afford a kilo of potatoes". Of course the same applies to families in Morocco as well.
Then, I am asking myself this question: Why is Morocco and Algeria spending vast sums on buying US and Russians armament worth Billions of dollars? Such vast amount can be best used to build schools, hospitals, create jobs for the the bethroten of our people. Create a "Safety Net" for those of our compratiots who can not make ends meet= something similar to the " Aid to dependent Children" practiced here in the US. During my multiple stays in Algeria or Morocco for that matter, I found out the people of both Countries love and respect each other. Now the problem resides with the Leadership. Can we change these folks: maybe. If we, all peace loving concerned compatriots start a writning campaign with a solid idea to tell these leaders to stop their bickering and get to work for the benefit of the governed, maybe we might get somewhere= " AN IDEA". Well folks I said my peace...........I will let you Young, Brigth future of these Nations take the bull by the horn. But for God's sake stop the arguing between Moroccan and Algerian. we are ONE. Thank you!

M6 is tired of playing games with Bouteflika, He finally realizes that Algeria is benefiting the most from the status quo. Algeria is sitting on oil wells and Morocco is sitting on a bomb called poverty and unemployment with no light in sight.
M6 is now aware that unless he shakes things up, his agenda of moving to morocco to modernity will not succeed. M6 is 46 years old and Bouteflika is 73 or more, There is a generation gap there that does not serve Morocco well. Younger generations can no longer sit and wait for things to happen and M6 does understand that and that's the reason he used a harsher tone toward the Algerian government and not the Algerian people, Of course the Algerian media and its military leaders are telling their reason that M6 is attacking Algeria fearing unrest.

Changing the tone toward Algeria will show the world that Morocco is serious about solving the conflict and that Morocco is not the one placing obstacles.

In regard to either you are Moroccan or not, I disagree. Obviously the people who went to meet with Algerians officials in Tindouf, they do not see themselves Moroccans, they see themselves western Saharan.
Moroccans are Moroccans, some happen to disagree with how things are run but that does not make them traitors.
Hassan II accused Serfaty of being Brazilian and M6 made him Moroccan again, I would hope that M6 does not deviate from his initial persona. M6 is good for Morocco and he should not let the events that sometimes happen in Morocco switch the person he is.

The algerian media, the polisario, are making a big deal about those 7 guys who visited Tindouf and M6 should not have fallen in their ruse by talking about the issue in a major speech to the nation. M6 should not give any ammunition to the enemies of Morocco.
but then again, this situation is so hard to fix that there will never be a good way or bad way to solve it.
Cheers!
