Washington: Networking at the Summit on Entrepreneurship

Washington / Morocco Board News Service - Following the Presidential Summit on Entrepreneurship, an event was held at the Washington’s Willard Hotel to provide an opportunity for networking between delegates, members of the diplomatic corps, US government officials, successful American business(wo)men, members of civil society and grassroots professional organizations, and business investors from over 40 countries to create personal and professional connections that will resonate beyond the summit and yield entrepreneurial developments across MENA Region. The event was organized by the Arab Empowerment Initiative.
The event highlighted the various faces of diplomacy and non-traditional diplomacy (namely faith-diplomacy and business diplomacy) can be used to strengthen US Muslim relations. It also showcased the talents, diversity and multi-dimensional aspects and contributions of Muslim and Arab Americans with high profile Muslim and Arab-American professionals who shared their stories.
Some of the speakers were Walter Isaacson president of the Aspen Institute, Farah Pandath, Obama’s special representative to the Muslim world. She is responsible for the executing Obama’s vision for engagement with Muslims around the world on a people to people and organizational level, and Predeep Ramamurthy senior director for global engagement at national Security Council.
Ms. Maysoun Zayed who described herself as “ a Palestinian Muslim Virgin with cerebral palsy, from New Jersey, who is an actress, comedian and activist” ended the event with a hilarious stand up comedy performance.
Some Moroccan attendees, in addition to Morocco’s Ambassador, Aziz Mekouar, were Wafa Zerrouki with the Association of Women Artisans, Sami Nadifi with IBI International, Amine Maaouni with the Moroccan American Center, wafaa Fathi with the BMCE Foundation and M. Essakalli with Zid Zid Kids and others.

That was a good opportunity for Aziz Mekouar to grab the microphone and tell these people how beautiful is Morocco and how inviting is the entrepreneurial landscape in Morocco.
