Cultural and Religious heavy Clothes

youssef Jounaidi
Some of you are outraged, while others are wondering about the purpose of the -- "femmes Du Maroc" cover, with Naked pregnant woman--magazine or the woman. Is money behind this astonishing sacrificial portrait or is it courage? We might not know, but as for now only one thing matters. Something has been exposed in plain sight to the disbelieving eyes of a society that view women as pure sacred flesh. I am so pleased that this women decided to show her well proportioned and beautiful body in a state we all deem as primordial to life. She is not exposing her flesh but rather letting everybody see what women are really, mothers, sisters, daughters and the bearers of human life. Concepts such as this are only superficially understood in Moroccan societies and all moslem societies at large.
In viewing this sacrificial portrait it is not lust or pornographic imagery that rush through my head but I rather sense this innocent and noble feeling that I am somehow related to this woman and her unborn baby.
Could these veiled and humble women you see in the streets of Morocco and other muslim societies have similar impact when they expose their flesh to their husbands, fiances and lovers? Do they feel emboldened and courageous like Nadia Larguet, or were they taught to be ashamed of themselves?

One more thing, the first reclining nude portrait of a women in Europe was drawn in 1510 "the sleeping venus". Even at that time in europe this was viewed as art. You think that we are late by that much what if I tell you one of the oldest venus figurine (nude woman) is the Venus of Tan-Tan, discovered in Morocco from the Acheulean culture of the Lower Paleolithic epoch, and has been dated to between 200,000 and 300,000 BC.

I am not advocating that women in morocco run the streets nude, but rather asking most Moroccans to denude themselves of these psychological cultural and religious heavy and yet invisibles clothe that they put on from generation to generation. Set your mind free and let others be free. Posted from my iPhone using J Admin Mobile!
