VIEWPOINT - DRISS TEMSAMANI
He packed his desire to live
Grabbed an expired picture of his old father
Buried the love for his land
Kissed his mother goodbye and
Left so many memories behind

He put away his fear to die
He hung his dreams to be
He flashed a fake smile and
Left on a warm winter to a cold summer

He bowed and made a prayer
A safe journey across, please God!
He cried and begged for his life
Tired of living the dreams of others
He woke up breaking the silence of the night

Broken dreams and shattered hopes
Every one in need of something
They line up looking for a pass

Just because we decided to paint the other side so bright
Does not make them greedy if they want to see the light
Just because we put a price on a better life
Who should we blame when they break the law to thrive?
Just because we want to know who has just arrived
Does not make them guilty to want to survive

For better so many will be leaving tonight
A new life in this world or beyond they just might

Good morning ,
Nice poem indeed.Your poem could have been a useful authentic material for one of my classes ,but i have read it just late .Bravo!!! One can still believe that Moroccan potentials are there waiting for the right moment to flourish .Living in USA far away from one's home land and yet holding strong ties with it is an exceptional virtue.
keep on posting more poems ,please.
take care.
