| An open letter to Congressman Frank R. Wolf |
| ZAK ETTAMYMY | |||||||||||||||
I represent a Think tank that promotes the Moroccan interests in the US, I am deeply saddened by you hostile position against Morocco, the first country to recognize this great nation, a country who fought shoulder to should with the Americans against tyrants in the world, a country who sided with the US in the cold war and mainly a country who values America and considers it an old friend.You ought to change your position regarding the future of this country which lays on the foundation of recovery of its land, I ponder about your position regarding the South Ossetia and Abkhazia, I hope that you support the American position which calls for the respect of the integrity of Georgia, I hope that you will apply the same values on the oldest American friend, Morocco. because preserving the territorial integrity of a nation is the most strategic issue that faces it especial nations of the size of Morocco and Georgia. Mr. Congressman, do you know that 35,000 Moroccan soldiers died defending the American values in Europe? do you know that thousands of young men from Morocco went to war against the Nazi Germany and the Italians in WWII when General Patton called upon them to help America take on the strongest army in that time? do you know that they went to war against the will of their occupier France during the Vichy era? I truly believe that you have more reasons to be for the Moroccan cause than to be against it, the Polisario was created and financed by the former USSR's cold war strategy and allies to get back at the US for siding with the Afghans in the 1970s Russian occupation of that country among other regional reasons, Morocco paid dearly for being a strong ally of the west but never wavered and never changed position, the war on terror, the first gulf war, the first country to open direct negotiations with the Israelis for the Palestinians and the Israelis to finally sit and talk about a peaceful solution to their conflict, Morocco went to WWII and had nothing to win other than to give a hand to an old friend, Morocco helped the US in its first years by refusing to recognize the division of the South and North during the American civil war, Morocco buys American arms and passenger planes to keep its strategic alliance with the US alive and lucrative, Morocco holds a free trade agreement with the US, Morocco is a major non NATO ally, Morocco helped the US against the piracy in the 19 century and Morocco recognized the US against the will of England in the first days of the creation of this great country. Do you think it is time to support this old friend?

Letter to Congressman Wolf.... I will personally give him a call, and ponder his phone lines with calls. It's about time the US should be treating Morocco the same special way Israel is been treated. Let's get the Congressman'phone number so we can call him to change his views about Morocco. |

sahara friends...we are not getting this matter resolved because we never have the right people represntenig us...our diplomats are a joke..i have met some of them and my jaw dropped when i realised they are actually responsible for managing our foreign policy..no self esteem no values not much education... they are only interested in stifling the budget and making as much money as they can while they are under the generous ministry of foreign affairs some of them are actually embarassing with their rotten teeth and cheap suits sitting in the bars drinking trying to pickup women instead of working the scene to get some symappty and support for our cause... they only got there because they kiss the right hands..what can i say we can only blame ourselves for being defeated by a band of bandits claiming to be the voice of the sahrawi moroccans... |

come down Hmimarmad hi Hmimarmad ; i think u were right in some of what u said. but u forget that the Moroccan brothers/sisters are not free. @ the other side of in Algeria; no slavery, in Algeria u can insult anybody in the government. i'm not denying the corruption but u guys u should not deny the freedom. polizario people don't wanna be part of that slavery; they wannt be free. and hopefully Algeria will keep helping them until they get their full independence. i hope one day Moroccan brothers/sisters those with dignity will have their independence one day. Bye |

I agree I agree with Zak. I wish the letter was a form of petition that Moroccan and friends of Morocco living in the 10th district can sign it and send the Mr. Wolf. The congressman needs to know his position on the Moroccan Sahara will contribute to destabilize the region, and we will sure that voters (hundreds of them) will not forget that on November 4, 2008 |

Agree with the writter but not entirely I live in VA, I can vote and I believe that this congressman is doing good for the people who represents, including myself. now, should I vote for him or not? Well, this is a major problem that we Moroccans have, should we vote for who is good for us or for who is good for our country of origin very hard choice, but I also agree that Mr. Wolf should know that we are people with values and attachment to morocco he should consider that...last time I checked he has not 1 polisario diaspora in his district...so not one vote from them. I agree with Zak he should change his opinion about us it may be better for his career. |

If I may The Sahara problem is more Spanish made than Russian made. Spain still holds Ceuta and Mellilia and the islands that are few hundred meters from the Moroccan shores (What an Injustice!!). Moroccans in particular need to understand that our main problem is the Algerian Generals and Algeria's Pres. Bouteflika. The Polisario acts at they are told by Algeria. The only way we could solve this problem is to reach out to the Sahraouis. If we keep calling them rebels, the problem will always remain and the situation can only deteriorate. The same old maneuver will not work. We need people who can reach out to the Sahraouis. These people need to understand that Morocco is not evil and Moroccans are good people and that they are better off living in Morocco as autonomous. We can no longer afford to rely on MAP, We need a new communication system in place. I don't claim that I have the magical solution but I do claim that business as usual is not working. We need people to start thinking outside the box. The US and France and to some extent the Spaniards but we are having problems with South Africa. If a Country like South Africa is complicating our task then this tells me that we are Mediocre at best. The South Africans took the world cup from us and aligned with the Algerians. We have only ourselves to blame not an irrelevant US congressman. Wake up guys! And PLEASE, let's not celebrate because Malawi is no longer recognizing the SADR. I think that we should be sad and unhappy that we only managed to get Malawi to support us. How about the Chinese? Aren't they selling their cheapo products all over Morocco? didn't Morocco say that Taiwan is part the Chinese territory? why is China is not replicating the same gesture. Well because we are not doing a good job. Good Day! |
