Proud of my roots
By Jamal Laoudi

I am of a different race
This is my new home, oh so pretty
Don't question my loyalty

I am proud of my roots
Just like of yours you are
Don't give me the boot
You would be going too far

During that dark day
I shed more than a tear
My life for this land I lay
I will not live in fear

My kind may be recent
You think we share nothing
Look beyond my accent
You may learn something

Be careful what you say
For the difference between you and me
You came yesterday,
I came today
